Every month we will be selecting a team member for our Employee Spotlight.

This month we are highlighting Jan Garrett. She is a Paramedic that works B-Shift and has been working for Greenville County EMS since 1999.

What is your favorite quote, saying, or motto?

My favorite quote is from Finding Nemo, “When life gets you down, you know what you’ve gotta do? Just keep swimming.”

What is your greatest achievement in life so far?

Getting my Paramedic certification. I’m also very proud to have spent 21 years in the service.

What is your #1 pet peeve?

People driving too slow in the fast lane.

What is your most memorable moment in your EMS career?

It would have to be when I was in President Bush’s motorcade when he came to Greenville several years ago.

What is your favorite movie or play?

I’m a comedy fan so my favorite movie is Bridesmaids. As for plays, I love Les Misérables.

What would constitute a perfect EMS crew member?

Low maintenance, compassion, protecting your partner, and good work ethic.

What is your best kept secret?

I have all 10 season of friends, and I hate singing in front of people.

What would you consider your worst habit?

Biting my finger nails.

Greatest inspiration in your life?

My 3 brothers. They’re my heroes that I look up to and they’ve always protected their little sister.

What is your favorite food item?

I love all Italian food.

What would be considered luxury to you?

Owning a beach house, lake house, or cabin.

If you could meet anyone in the history of the world, who and why?

So one person I would like to meet would be Ellen Degeneres. She’s hilarious, kind, and compassionate.

What would your epitaph say?

“Great sense of humor.”

What is your favorite type of music?

My favorite type of music is ‘80s country and classic rock.

Where would you like to grow old?

My hometown of Fountain Inn.
