What is your favorite quote, saying, or motto?

I have 2: “You live and you learn.” My grandfather would say this when we made mistakes, and I sure made plenty growing up. It’s okay to make a mistake, you will learn from it, and if you don’t, you’ll make the mistake over and over until that mirror clears up. “Do not seek for events to happen as you wish, but wish for them to happen as they do happen, and all will be well.” –Epictetus Life has changed in many ways in my life, learning to balance my wishes, wants, and needs made everything achievable and possible. Things come at the right time, not my time.

What is your greatest achievement in life so far?

Seems cliché, but I’d say making it to 34. Many friends of mine didn’t, so I am grateful for each day.

What is your #1 pet peeve?

When someone is eating with their mouth open, and they are smacking their lips. Professionally, lack of accountability. Not being upfront with your own faults leaves no room for development, and therefore, no positive development to those who you serve. Faults are natural, own them.

What is your most memorable moment in your EMS career?

Watching my trainees become trainers and more themselves. I am proud of their growth and development, and being a small part of their journey is amazing.

What is your favorite movie or play?

The Nutcracker. Makes the holidays for me.

What would constitute a perfect EMS crew member?

There is no perfect crewmember. Until I am perfect, I won’t seek perfection. However, I seek in a teammate accountability, dignity, and realism for yourself. If that is achieved, all that is returned to the team, agency, and public.

What is your best kept secret?

I can’t tell you. It’s my best kept secret.

What would you consider your worst habit?

Procrastinating and enjoying the rush to get it done.

Who is your greatest inspiration in your life?

Exceeding my own expectations and challenges.

What is your favorite food item?

Cannoli and my Dad’s homemade pizza.

What would be considered luxury to you?

Honestly, I value time over all. Luxury isn’t what can you give me materialistically, that is something I can do on my own. But don’t waste my time.

If you could meet anyone in the history of the world, who and why?

My Great-Nonno. He died when I was a baby, but his wisdom lives on through my family. He came to America as Mussolini rose to power, the life lessons of the old country he installed in the family still lives in us. I would love to just have a conversation with him.

What would your epitaph say?

Life is as short as a storm and as beautiful as the tide returning.

What is your favorite type of music?

I listen to everything, but I do love the classic blues.

Where would you like to grow old?

The sea.
