Our Trap-Neuter-Return (TNR) program in Greenville County is driven by our commitment to compassionate and sustainable feline population management. TNR is a humane and effective approach that not only improves the lives of community cats but also helps reduce their numbers over time. By spaying or neutering these cats, providing essential vaccinations, and marking them with an ear-tip to signify their sterilization, we can prevent the cycle of endless litters, minimizing the strain on our community and decreasing the number of cats entering shelters. Community Cat TNR is FREE for Greenville County residents only. The outdoor cat must also be living in Greenville County to qualify. Please be aware that there is a limited number of community cats accepted each day, following a first-come, first-served basis. We do not accept appointments for outdoor community cats. • We accept outdoor community cats for TNR services Mondays – Thursdays on a first-come, first-served basis. There is a daily limit of 2 cats per household.
• We begin check-in starting at 8:00am and continue until we reach our daily limit. We highly recommend arriving before 8:00am as TNR is a high-demand community service.
• We require community cats to arrive in a humane live trap. One cat per trap.
• For safety and efficiency, we do not allow cats in the lobby while waiting for check-in to begin. Instead, trapped cats and their caretakers will remain outdoors in the curb-service line. Please come prepared for inclement weather for you and the community cat(s) while you wait.
• Check-in can take 30 minutes or more once it begins. Please plan your day accordingly.
• We will ensure that community cats are given core vaccinations if needed, spayed or neutered, and ear-tipped plus a small tattoo near the incision, which is the humane, universal symbol of a sterilized cat.
• Once the process is complete and you pick up the community cat, you will return to its original location or vicinity to live outdoors.
• Do not relocate community cats to other neighborhoods! This creates a vacuum effect that will cause any remaining cats to reproduce at higher rates in your neighborhood.

Cats must be brought in a humane cat trap to participate in the Community Cat TNR program, with one cat per trap and a limit of two cats per household per day. A crucial note: Ensure that you use humane cat traps when bringing in cats, as rodent traps may look similar but are much smaller and not suitable for use with cats.
