Become a Stray Saver

Our shelter stays at critical capacity. The Stray Saver Program allows community members to temporarily care for a friendly, healthy lost pet, giving them the best chance to reunite with their family and helping us save kennel space in our shelter for emergencies.

How It Works

If you find a friendly lost or stray pet:

  • You keep the pet in your care for a few days.
  • The pet still receives full medical intake from Animal Care.
  • You help look for the owner while freeing up shelter space for urgent cases.
What Care Is Provided?

Your Stray Saver pet receives:

  • Vaccines
  • De-worming
  • Flea & tick prevention
  • Heartworm test (adult dogs)
How Long Will I Need to Keep the Pet?

We ask Stray Savers to keep the pet for about 5 days. This gives the owner time to find them. If no one comes forward, the pet returns to the shelter on Day 6 or the next business day.

Can I Adopt the Pet?

Yes! Stray Savers can adopt the pet if the owner cannot be found.

  • We provide spay/neuter, microchipping, and ID tag at no cost.
  • Adoption is finalized after the legal stray hold period is complete.
