Filings and Fees

The filing of summons and complaints, answers and all other pleadings must follow the form and content specifically laid out in the South Carolina Rules of Civil Procedures. The Rules of Civil Procedure are available in the Greenville County Library on College Street and at the Greenville Technical College Library (Barton Campus).

A one hundred and fifty dollar ($150.00) filing fee is due when a lawsuit is initially filed. At this time a case number will also be assigned.

Effective July 1, 2004, pursuant to the order of Chief Justice Toal, Supreme Court of South Carolina, civil coversheet SCCA/234 (3/2004) is mandatory and required with all initial pleadings filed in the court of Common Pleas.
