The South Carolina Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) allows a person to request public records from a public entity like the Greenville County Department of Public Safety. A FOIA request is a process of officially requesting such records. The obligations and limitations of these requests are explained in the South Carolina Code of Laws – Title 30, Chapter 4. The Public Official’s Guide to Compliance with South Carolina’s Freedom of Information Act is also a guide published by the South Carolina Press Association that offers useful information for understanding this law. To make a FOIA request for public records you may do so by accessing the link below or you may visit our Public Records Office at the Law Enforcement Center located at 4 McGee Street, Greenville, South Carolina 29601.
