How Operation Safe Outcomes Works

The voluntary information entered by caretakers or family members in the Safe Outcomes application located at www.gcso.org is transferred into the Greenville County Sheriff’s Office CAD (computer-aided dispatch). When 911 receives a call for service and the address is linked with an address registered in Safe Outcomes, the responding officers will be alerted that this is a Safe Outcomes address through their in-car computer. The information and photo (if one was provided) entered by the caretaker and/or family member will then be provided to the responding officers.

Information Collected

The information collected and compiled is crucial to the success of Operation Safe Outcomes. Questions included in the voluntary registry include but are not limited to the following:

• Safe Outcomes Person Information: Address, Physical Description, & Diagnosis/Disability
• Special Considerations: Method of Communication, Commonly Worn Items, & Approach Suggestions
• Primary Contact Information
• Secondary Contact Information
• Current Photo
• Vehicle Information (if applicable)

Caregivers are strongly encouraged to sign back into the registry as often as necessary to update information about the registration. To mitigate confidentiality issues, the Greenville County Sheriff’s Office has included a waiver in the registry. Providing data is completely voluntary and the information will be used solely for the purpose of assisting officers and other first responders in providing service to those they have registered.

Enrollment Is Easy

Caregivers can enroll family members, friends, or clients with medical/developmental disabilities on the Operation Safe Outcomes website. Once registered, a caregiver can register up to four persons on the Operation Safe Outcomes Portal. This will include names and contact information of family, friends, neighbors who interact with the individual, and a current photo of the individual. THERE IS NO ENROLLMENT FEE.

Partnerships

The key to the success of Operation Safe Outcomes initiative is the strong partnerships formed with non-governmental organizations, government agencies, and private businesses. These partnerships can act as force multipliers, expert advisors, and resource providers. Additionally, they can provide assistance with outreach by identifying ways to target groups and to advertise the availability of Operation Safe Outcomes. Most importantly, these groups provide program legitimacy that is often necessary when encouraging caretakers to register their loved ones.
