Pet Stores Celebrate Scoop the Poop

Education and Action

Local pet stores are teaming up with Greenville County Soil and Water Conservation District to help get the word out that there is no Poop Fairy. Pet stores will be featuring the Scoop the Poop messaging during May and June. Campaign messaging that these stores will feature include “There is no Poop Fairy” educational buttons and t-shirts for staff members as well as “Poop Fairy” labels, floor clings and signage. Stores additionally will provide educational materials and some “Poop Fairy” buttons will be available for customers.

Pet waste left on the ground gets carried away by storm water, contributing harmful bacteria, parasites, and viruses to the water supply. Dog poop left on yards or driveways does not magically disappear or act as nature’s fertilizer. Everyone is responsible for their own dog because there is no Poop Fairy!

The Poop Fairy will be stopping by the following stores this May and June:
  • Barkery Bistro, 118 N. Main St., Greenville
  • Nature’s Select of the Carolinas, 5 Century Dr., Ste. 142, Greenville
  • Saluda River Pet Food Center, 1600 Augusta Rd., Greenville
  • Saluda River Pet Food Center, 902 County Rd 669, Simpsonville
  • Man's Best Friend Pet Resort & Boutique, 8100 Augusta Rd., Piedmont

Make plans to stop by one of these local pet stores and learn more about how you can be a responsible pet owner, since there is no Poop Fairy to do the job for you! Remember to Scoop your Poop – all you have to do is grab it, bag it, toss it!
