About the Register of Deeds Office

The mission of the Register of Deeds office is to provide for the recordation, maintenance and availability of county records dealing with real and personal property. We are here to serve you and Help you however we can.

Office Responsibilities...
  • File, index and record documents.
  • Maintains filed records.
  • Provide copies and certified copies.
  • Microfilms, process and duplicates film of records in the office.
  • Provides SC Archives duplicates of all microfilmed records for security.
This Office does not...
  • Verify ownership of property.
  • Research records for liens.
  • Perform title searches.
  • Advise, refer or make legal recommendations.
  • Execute documents.
  • Report to credit bureaus or other agencies.
