Dear Citizens,

At 10:30 on November 20, we received notice that the US Supreme Court did not grant the SC Attorney General's request for a further delay in the issuance of same sex marriage licenses.

Therefore, we are now accepting applications for marriage licenses for same sex couples.

  • The bride and the groom must both appear in person to apply for a marriage license.
  • Refunds are not available once the marriage application is processed, even if the license is not used for any reason.
  • A South Carolina Marriage License is valid only for ceremonies held in the state of South Carolina. If you are planning a wedding outside South Carolina, do not apply for a license in South Carolina.
