Greenville County Council

District 21

Jim Burns was elected in 2004 to represent the east side of Greenville County, District 21. Mr. Burns, a Senior Vice President with Carolina First Bank, earned degrees from Clemson University.

He has lived in Greenville since the age of 9 and attended Mauldin High School.

Jim and his wife, Kathy, have three children. They are members of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Greenville.

Prior to his Council term, he served on the Board of Zoning Appeals for both Greenville County and the City of Greenville. Jim graduated from Leadership Greenville with Class 28. He has been named one of Greenville's Best and Brightest under 35 and one of Greenville's Most Influential People. He sits on the Board of Directors of Greenville Forward and the Convention and Visitor's Bureau.

Councilor Burns serves as Chairman on the Public Works, Planning & Development Committee.
