We have chosen to use SC.GOV as our merchant to provide this credit card payment service to the County. Whenever a credit card is used for any purchase, the merchant does not receive the full amount that is charged to the credit card. To pay for this service, SC.GOV will charge you 1.7% percent of the billing total plus one dollar. This is done to defray the direct costs of providing this service. The charge on your bill will reflect that it is from SC.gov. Greenville County only receives the tax portion of this amount and does not receive any additional merchant charges. You will be informed of the total amount of your transaction before it is completed and you will have an opportunity to terminate the transaction if you do not wish to accept the charge.

Please keep in mind that, per South Carolina State Law, you cannot pay a current tax bill if there are outstanding prior year taxes on that same property. Greenville County will return any tax payment made for current taxes if there are prior years taxes outstanding. Any transactional charges paid will NOT be refunded.
