Recyclable Items
Almost everything can be recycled ... If you are willing to make the effort. However, you are probably looking for the list of items that can be recycled in Greenville County recycling dropoff containers and most municipal curbside collection recycling bins. These include:
  • Mixed paper and cardboard, which accounts for approximately 40 percent of the wastes generated
  • Glass containers, which account for approximately 3 percent of the wastes generated
  • Plastic containers (bottles and jugs), which account for approximately 6 percent of the wastes generated
  • Aluminum, steel, and bimetal cans, which account for approximately 4 percent of the wastes generated.

Extended Materials List
An extended list of materials are accepted for recycling at Greenville County's convenience centers. This list includes:
  • oil
  • oil filters
  • oil bottles (empty)
  • car batteries
  • rechargeable batteries (cd-ni, cd-metal hydride, etc)
  • appliances/white goods, which accounts for approximately 6 percent of the wastes generated
  • tires
  • cardboard boxes
  • yard debris; accounts for approximately 20% of waste generated
  • latex paint (usable)
