Freetown Redevelopment
Update
GCRA is in the final stages of
revitalizing
the Freetown neighborhood in northwest Greenville. This project has
been underway since summer 2000, and the expected completion time is summer
2005. Currently, crews are finishing road work and are finishing
construction on about 20 new homes. Street improvements to Alice
Avenue, Arnold Street, and Baker Street have been completed. The
Redevelopment Authority is now working on portions of Carver Street and
the new Miles Court cul-de-sac as well as the North Freetown area which
will be developed for housing. GCRA has renovated
approximately ten homes in the Freetown area, and when the entire project
is completed, will have built about 75 brand new homes.
