The Greenville County Department of Planning is responsible for Transportation Planning in Greenville County as well a substantial portion of Pickens County and small portions of Anderson, Laurens, and Spartanburg Counties. The Department is designated as the Metropolitan Planning Organization (MPO).

The members of the Transportation Planning division provide transportation planning services relative to the role as the Metropolitan Planning Organization (MPO) which is the Greenville - Pickens Area Transportation Study.

Keith Brockington, AICP
Transportation Planner is responsible for maintaining Geographic Information Systems (GIS) data and mapping as well as providing technical assistance relative to land use impacts and the effects to the transportation infrastructure.

Tiffany Wedmore, AICP
Associate Transportation Planner provides staff assistance with regards to public involvement, workshops, and other presentations to stakeholders. She also is our staff liaison to the Greenlink Transit operation.

The Planning Department is the staff for the GPATS Policy Committee. The GPATS Policy Committee is a 24 member group which is comprised of House Members, Senators, Mayors, County Council members and others.

Traffic Calming

Traffic Calming Turtle Traffic calming is a process of communication, education and action to ensure the streets of Greenville are safe for everyone wherever traffic is involved. The Traffic Calming Program is primarily administered by the Department of Public Works with support from the Planning Commission's staff.
