Zoning Verification Letters

The Planning Department issues zoning verification letters.

To Obtain a Verification Letter
  • Requests for verification letters must be submitted in writing.
  • Send your request to:
    Greenville County Planning Department
    301 University Ridge, Suite 400
    Greenville, SC 29601
  • Your letter must include the 13 digit tax map number also known as the parcel identification number for the property concerned. The street address(s) is not valid for verification requests. The tax map number or parcel identification number can be found on a tax receipt. You also may search the GIS/Zoning Map for the number(s). (Follow the instructions on screen for a parcel search to obtain the tax map number.)
  • Include in your letter a check in the amount of $10.00 for each request. This fee is required for up to 3 parcels (credit/debit cards not accepted). For example, if you would like the zoning of a parcel and the surrounding zoning classifications a fee of $20.00 would be required.
  • This office will complete the request the day of receipt and return them per the applicant's request, i.e. facsimile, United States Postal Service, pre-paid Fed-Ex or similar envelope.
  • Parcels that are zoned NC, POD or PD have special provisions. Call the Planning Department at 864-467-7270 to obtain additional information other than zoning for these zoning districts.
Note: For additional information such as building violations, site plan requests, setback information, etc. you must contact the Codes Enforcement Department at 864-467-7090 or by mail at Greenville County Codes Department, 301 University Ridge, Suite 4100, Greenville, SC 29601.
