A Designing Our Destiny committee is
refining county
manufactured housing and subdivision regulations.
Objectives:
To provide flexible land use controls to encourage nontraditional single-family residential development
To continue to streamline governmental administrative regulations regarding the location, coordination, and construction of housing in the county Multifamily Development
Objective: To provide flexible land use regulations while encouraging development in areas of adequate infrastructure
Recommendations:
Allow for creative design while reducing the amount of time needed for planned development approvals
Facilitating coordination between infrastructure providers and multifamily developers
Manufactured Housing
Objective: To recognize the importance of manufactured housing as a needed affordable housing alternative Recommendations:
Prepare an assessment of the manufactured housing situation in the county
Present findings to the GCPC
Present GCPC's recommendations to County Council
Objective: To identify ways to increase opportunities for the development of manufactured housing communities
Recommendations:
Review the county's Zoning Ordinance requirements
Review the county zoning map
Develop revised standards for manufactured home subdivisions and parks
Affordable Housing
Objective: To ensure there are sufficient affordable housing opportunities available
Recommendations:
Identify ways to increase the number and quality of rental housing for households with low-to- moderate incomes
Support existing home ownership and rental programs
Investigate land banking to protect future residential sites
Allow developers flexibility in designing subdivisions without increasing density
