City View Community Plan Adopted

The City View Community Plan was adopted at Third Reading by County Council on April 2nd, making the effective date for the document April 3rd, 2019. Greenville County Planning is extremely grateful for the hard work and diligence of everyone involved in this process, including area residents and business owners, the City View Community Coalition, several local churches, Bon Secours Saint Francis, and Councilwoman Xanthene Norris. City View Community Plan Adoption Timeline

Upon a majority vote of residents and stakeholders at the January 7th City View Community Coalition meeting to proceed with the community plan adoption process, Greenville County Planning Staff has begun taking the initial steps toward a February 18 Public Hearing date for the community plan. All persons interested in the proposed amendment to adopt the final draft of the City View Community Plan are invited to attend this meeting. At subsequent meetings, Greenville County Council may approve or deny the proposed amendment. Community residents are still encouraged to review the final draft of the plan and submit any questions, concerns, or inquiries to Jonathan Hanna at jhanna@greenvillecounty.org. City View Feedback Exercise Held For Plan Outline

County Planning Staff met with the City View Coalition last Monday (2/5/2018) to present a draft outline for the City View Community Plan. Participants in this exercise were asked to provide feedback by rating each designated principle in the outline a priority ranking (on a scale of 1 to 5). Community members were also provided open space to comment on each section and offer more specific feedback. A link to the feedback exercise is available below. City View Steering Committee Meeting Recap

On Tuesday, September 19th, County Planning Staff met with the City View Steering Committee to cover the subject of zoning, its function, and how to plan for the future with zoning principles. The discussion is outlined in the linked meeting minutes and presentation slides below. The presentation was followed by an extended Future Land Use Map exercise with the community in which committee members were tasked with coming to a consensus for how to recommend development to be organized in the long-term future. City View Steering Committee Meeting Recap

On August 15th, Planning Staff met with City View Steering Committee members to begin exploring some of the concepts that will give language to their vision for the future. Doug Dent, CEO of the Greenville Revitalization Corporation, spoke to the growing interest in Woodside Avenue as a commercial corridor between Monahan Mill and Woodside Mill. Additionally, committee members were provided with a variety of example development types (both residential and commercial) and were asked to provide their feedback (based on a 4 point scale).We encourage any residents from the City View area to participate in this short survey and provide our staff with a sense of what you would like to see develop in your area. Next City View Steering Committee Meeting on August 15th

All residents of City View are invited to join the City View Steering Committee as our staff continues to work with residents and stakeholders in the area to develop a community plan for the area. The highest priority of staff is to effectively communicate the goals and objectives of the community at large and, as a result, we always welcome additional voices from the community who are willing to express their ideas and perspective. City View Steering Committee Continues the Planning Process

On June 6th, the Planning Staff held the first meeting with the City View Steering Committee, commencing the next phase of the planning process. This introductory meeting was used to assess participation and report the results of the May 13h Community Event exercises. The Greenville County Planning Staff is grateful for the wonderful community turn out and participation on the May 13th community event in City View at Legacy Charter School. We are grateful to the partners at Bon Secours and in the community who helped spread the word, as well as for Legacy Charter School, who provided lunch for everyone. We had a fantastic time with the community and our staff gleaned a lot of valuable information from residents and we look forward to continuing to work with the community steering committee in the coming months.

The City View Coalition is partnered with Legacy Charter School, Bon Secours St. Francis, and the Greenville County Planning Department to host a community-wide meeting on Saturday, May 13th, from 12 pm to 2 pm at the Legacy Charter Dining Hall. Lunch will be provided along with door prizes, so we encourage you to bring your families, friends, and neighbors and help us get the word out.
