2008 Drive Smarter Challenge
Reduce Your Gasoline Costs Help Greenville County Win National Green County Competition! The Drive Smarter Challenge will begin The average U.S. household will spend about $3,400 to fuel its vehicles in 2008, according to the Alliance to Save Energy (www.ase.org). The high price of gas is also raising prices on many other necessities, including food, clothing, home cooling and heating, building supplies, etc.
Greenville County has accepted a challenge by the National Association of Counties to see which county in each of three population size categories can get the highest percentage of residents and employees to take the Drive $marter Challenge. In addition to coupons from Exxon Mobil and AutoZone for each individual participant, AutoZone will also be awarding each of the winning counties 1,000 bottles of Fuel Additive/Cleaner products applied to the fuel system to help vehicles be more fuel-efficient. We have the power individually and working together to combat higher gasoline prices, decrease air pollution and greenhouse gas emissions, and improve our national energy security. 2008 Energy Star Challenge
CHANGE THE WORLD, START WITH ENERGY STAR TAKE THE ENERGY STAR PLEDGE Pledge collection will begin July 1, 2008 and conclude on November 30, 2008. www.greencounties.org/changetheworld Do your part to help Greenville County win by pledging to change a light in your home to an energy-effcient one and also choose among other actions to help save energy such as power managing computers, choosing ENERGY STAR appliances, or properly program your thermostat.
