2005 American Dream Housing Fair

This event followed the Robert Wilson Housing Head Start Fund Walk and the opening program held on November 12th, 2005 for the first time at the Palmetto Exposition Center. The Marshall for the Housing Fair was Mayor Pro-Tem Lillian Brock-Flemming.

Two education seminars were presented on understanding credit and taking the fear out of owning a first home. An exhibit area for over 20 sponsors was provided for the participants to provide direct contact with vendors of preferred services. Bus tours of available and future home sites were provided throughout the fair by the City of Greenville. Participants were provided lunch. Door prizes were carefully selected for their use in a new home. Hispanic staff members of the Greenville County Human Relations Commission were on hand to address any language issues.

The Housing Fair was very successful with over 92 registering. Over 20 credit reports were requested and printed out for those in the credit seminar. An extra bus tour was added because of the high interest by the attendees.
