The South Carolina General Assembly created the Commission in 1972 by passing
Act 1832, which was
amended in July 1974.
Greenville County ordinance numbers
784, 1220
and 1749
supported the creation of the Commission and after Home Rule
eventually established the twelve board positions that we have today.
Greenville County Council appoints all board members through an
application process.
The board as per their by-laws
selects the officers of the board annually. Board members can be reached through the
Human Relations Executive Director by e-mail
or by telephoning the Human Relations office at (864) 467-7095.
