The Identification Section is comprised of eight civilian employees. These employees staff a post twenty-four hours per day, seven days per week. Primary duties performed are photographing and fingerprinting all persons arrested and booked into the Greenville County Detention Center as well as those authorized for release under bond/recognizance. Additional fingerprint and identification services are performed for civilian functions such as employment, teachers, child care workers, foster parents, concealed weapons permit applicants and security clearances. The Identification Section maintains the accountability of criminal records, civil records, management of photographic mugshot system, and management of Livescan fingerprinting devices for the electronic submission of fingerprint records to SLED (South Carolina Law Enforcement Division). They also provide services associated with the Sex Offender Registry Program and those associated with Escort Service and Taxi Cab applicants.
