• A five-dollar co-payment is charged to inmates to defray the costs of medical/dental/ psychological treatment:
  1. When care is requested by an inmate and is considered non-emergency in nature by the Medical Clinic staff
  2. When they physically assault or injure another inmate, so as to provide care to and/or evaluate the victim inmate
  3. And in accordance with all other County ordinances and policies
• These charges are on a per-occurrence basis.
• Inmates that are indigent are examined and treated as necessary, with co-payments debited from their accounts in anticipation of funds being deposited.

The Medical staff does see inmates without money.

• Funds for an inmate's account will be accepted in the Public Lobby of Building One, 20 McGee St. of the Greenville County Detention Center between 7:00am and 11:00 pm, seven days a week.
• Funds will be accepted in the following forms:
  • US Cash
  • US Postal or Western Union money orders, and government checks made payable to the inmate. No other forms of money orders are acceptable.

Indigent inmates may apply for:

• Legal kit - Consisting of writing paper and 3 stamped envelopes, weekly
• Ink Pen – Every two weeks
• Toothpaste – Every two weeks
• Toothbrush – Every 90 days
• Soap - weekly
• Female inmates -Panties, 3-pack – every 60-days
