Enabling Legislation: Act of General Assembly No. 1329 (1968)

Act No. 1329 of 1968 created the Greenville County Recreation District. The District is responsible for providing recreation facilities and programs for residents of the District, which includes those living in Greenville County except those living in the City of Greenville, City of Greer, City of Mauldin, and City of Simpsonville. The Greenville County Recreation District has a volunteer commission board composed of seven members who are resident electors of the district. Upon the recommendation of County Council, the governor appoints the members to the commission for a term of five years without compensation. The District files in the office of the Clerk of Court for Greenville County a list indicating the persons holding office as members of the commission and the duration of their respective terms. The District also files an annual audit report with the Greenville County Legislative Delegation and Greenville County Council.
