Devenger Special Tax District
Purpose(s)/Service(s): provides for security, litter control, control of other health hazards
and maintenance of entrances, etc. Pursuant to Section 4-9-30(5)(a) of the code of Laws of South Carolina, Ordinance No. 1780 created the Devenger Community special Tax District. The purpose and functions of the district, within its boundaries, is to provide security and property protection in the form of law enforcement protection and street lights, control litter and other health hazards along the public rights-of-way, maintain and promote improvements for the entrances and exits and rights-of-way; to maintain and promote improvements of all the Devenger Family Center property that includes a recreational building or buildings, swimming pools, tennis courts, playground equipment, a multiuse hard surface sports court, hard surface trails, and various other landscaping. The Devenger Tax District Commission is the governing body of this special tax district and consists of five (5) members appointed by County Council. All members of the Commission shall reside within the geographical boundaries of the special tax district. County Council shall fill vacancies on the Commission for the remainder of the unexpired term. The Commission shall be responsible for maintaining and operating the Devenger Special Tax District in accordance with the purses set forth in Section 3 of Ordinance No. 1780 and shall adopt its own rules and operating procedures.
