Chanticleer Special Tax District

Purpose(s)/Service(s): provides for security, litter control, maintenance of entrances, etc.
Enabling Legislation: Greenville County Council Ordinance No. 1638, effective 1/1/1987.
Pursuant to South Carolina Code: 4-9-30(5)(c) (2/17/87)

Pursuant to Section 4-9-30(5)(c) of the Code of Laws of South Carolina, Ordinance No. 1638 created the Chanticleer Community Special Tax District. The purpose of the district is to provide, within the district, security and property protection, control litter and other health hazards along the public rights-of-way, maintain and promote improvements for the entrances and exits and rights-of-way.

The Chanticleer Community Commission is the governing body of the Chanticleer Community Special Tax District consisting of five (5) members who serve three (3) year staggered terms and are appointed by County Council. All members of the Commission shall reside within the geographical boundaries of the special tax district. County Council shall fill vacancies for the remainder of the unexpired term. The Commission shall be responsible for maintaining and operating the special tax district in accordance with the purposes set forth in Section 3 of Ordinance No. 1638 and shall adopt its own rules and operating procedures.
