Cort Flint is serving his second term on County Council. He was re-elected in
November 2004 to represent District 24.
Councilor Flint serves on the Finance Committee and the Public Works, Planning & Development Committee. Cort R. Flint, Jr., was raised in Anderson County, South Carolina, and attended public schools in Anderson. Graduated Auburn University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Aeronautical Engineering, 1966; received a Masters Degree in Engineering from the University of Alabama, 1970. Employed as an aerospace engineer with the National Aeronautics and Space Administration from 1966 to 1970; and worked on the Apollo moon project and worked personally with Dr. Werner Von Braun; employed as a Patent Examiner with the United States Patent Office from 1970 to 1974; and Law Clerk, United States Patent Board of Appeals, 1973. Attended law schools of Georgetown University, and Catholic University of America; received Juris Doctor degree, 1974. Engaged in the private practice of patent, trademark, copyright, and internet law and related litigation in Greenville, South Carolina since 1975; offices located at Bank of America Plaza, Suite 900, 7 N. Laurens Street. Admitted to South Carolina Bar, May 1975; registered to practice before the United States Patent and Trademark Office in Washington, D.C.; United States District Court of South Carolina; United States Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit; United States Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit; United States Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit; and the United States Supreme Court. Member, South Carolina Committee on Patent, Trademark, and Copyright Law, 1979-1988; American Bar Association (Member, Intellectual Property Law Section); Carolinas Patent Law Association (Member, Board of Directors 1984-1989, President, 1990); South Carolina Bar (Member, House of Delegates 1986-1994, 2001); and International Trademark Association. Member: Greenville and Mauldin Chambers of Commerce, Upstate Forever, and Friends of the Reedy River. Served on the Metropolitan Arts Council, and board member of the Carolina Kids Conservancy. Long time supporter of Miracle Hills Ministries, Southernside Community Center, Quick Striders Track Club, Journey Into Wholeness, and Legal Services Agency of Western Carolina. Previous member of Toastmasters International. Judge, High School Moot Court Competition, Greenville County. |
