Selection Process
Jurors are selected from a list made up of all registered voters, licensed drivers, and
holders of state-issued photo I.D. cards.
A panel of three jury commissioners meets on the first Tuesday of each month to enter their private codes into a computer which randomly draws from the list. The commissioners never see the names that are chosen until after the list has been printed. The list is then sent to the Clerk of Courts office to be prepared and a list of jurors that do not respond is sent to the Greenville Sheriffs Office to follow up in person. The jury summons are mailed 20 to 30 days before the jurors are to appear in court. A juror is paid $10.00 a day for each day that he or she comes to court, and is also paid the IRS allowable amount per mile for the first trip to court. Checks are mailed within 2 days after your jury service ends. |
