Question: How can our neighborhood get street lights installed?
Answer: A special tax district must be established.
(See Special Tax District Creation). Information concerning the creation of such a
district must be obtained through the County Attorney Office at (864) 467-7110.
Question: Who do I contact to get Street Lights repaired?
Answer: To report damaged or broken street lights, call
Duke Power Customer Service at 1-800-777-9898 or logon to
www.dukepower.com
Question: How do you find out which streets are County maintained?
Answer: The Public Works Division can provide assistance in
the location of County maintained streets. Contact them at (864) 467-7016.
Question: Who schedules routine street maintenance?
Answer: Routine street repairs are scheduled and performed by the
Public Works Division at (864) 467-7016. Public Works schedules more extensive street
resurfacing and reconstruction based on expected pavement life and pavement condition
assessment.

Answer: All new street names are approved through the Planning
Department during the initial acceptance process. When a person requests that a road be
accepted through the Public Works Department, three (3) names are submitted for
consideration. The name is approved through the E-911 Office, the Planning Department,
and the Public Works Division. Duplications are not allowed. Private roads are named
with the approval of the E-911 Office also.

Question: How do I know if I live on a private road?
Answer: If the street sign says "PD", the roadway is listed
as a private drive. For further information, contact the Public Works Division at
(864) 467-7016.
Question: Where should requests for street repairs be directed?
Answer: The Public Works Division, (864) 467-7016, should be
contacted for these requests.
Question: To whom do you report damages or missing street name
signs?
Answer: Report damaged or missing street signs to the Public
Works Division, Sign Shop at (864) 467-2628. Be specific about the type of street sign,
its location, and the nature of the problem.
Question: To whom do you report damaged or missing traffic
control signs?
Answer: Damaged or missing traffic control signs could be
hazardous and should be reported immediately to the Public Works Division, Sign Shop
at (864) 467-2628.
