Signs
Question: Who is responsible for installing street signs,
stop signs, children at play signs, no litter signs, no parking signs?
Answer: Contact the Public Works Division Sign Shop at
(864) 467-2628 or (864) 467-2673 concerning the installation of street signs and stop signs. Due to
safety reasons and possible liability, Greenville County no longer installs
"Children at Play" signs.
"Slow Down for Safety" signs are available for pickup at the main office, Suite 3800, County Square.
For "No Littering" signs, contact the Environmental
Services Division of the Sheriff's Office at (864) 467-5201. For "No Parking" signs,
contact the Public Works Division Sign Shop at (864) 467-2628 or (864) 467-2673. This request will
require a study to determine if signs are warranted.
Question: What is the sign ordinance?
Answer: The sign ordinance regulates the placement of
advertising signs on private property. Certain criteria apply in each zoning
district. Contact the Codes Enforcement Division at (864) 467-7425 for further
information.
